We had an unfinished basement that has been transformed into a wonderful entertainment / TV room. We appreciated Phil & Kevin's suggestions regarding paint color, flooring finishes and general layout of the room. Their advice for enhancing the functional use of the space was a definite benefit of having a professional team do the work. Thanks guys!
The highest compliment I can think of is willingly and enthusiastically recommending them to family, friends, neighbors...anyone!

Our home was a new build that we had moved into in May 2011. As a result of the builder being rushed to get the house completed, the end result was less than stellar. We hired Phil to come in to do the work that was to be completed on our Tarion home warranty as well as do some painting to get our home ready for sale. Our home just didn't feel like a home and was not what I wanted it to be. Phil worked with us on some finishing touches and new colours and as he was completing his work voila our home was starting to feel like home.
Still concerned regarding the lack of space he explained how he could renovate the basement to get us the room we needed. I personally thought it was a lost cause due to the fact that the builder took no time or consideration as to where they placed all the mechanicals. We decided to go ahead, because there was nothing out in the marketplace for us to purchase. End result I now love my home and the completion of the basement is amazing. We have taken our home off the market and have decided to stay.
Phil and his contractors worked tirelessly to get the job completed. The attention to detail which I am a stickler for is second to none. What started out in my mind to be a disaster these guys have turned into a beautiful home. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants to have top notch detailed work done in their home. Friends who come to visit can't believe the transformation that has taken place. Our homes should rise up to greet us at the end of a long day, mine finally does!!!

We had purchased our home four years ago and knew the exterior needed re-staining even then. I had been dreading having this done, as I knew it was going to be a major job and I did not know any contractors in this area. I called three contractors from the internet and one who was recommended by a friend. The upshot of this was that one of the contractors recommended Phil. Another contractor did not seem to know exactly what to do and took weeks getting a quote to me and the quote was three times as much as Phil's. The last contractor was also more expensive than Phil but did not really seem interested in doing the job.
When Phil showed up to have a look, he immediately told me exactly what had to be done, how long it would take, when they could begin the job and how much it would cost. I was a bit worried at first because he was the least expensive quote; this was the entire exterior of a unique cedar siding house which was our only financial asset. My husband and I are both very fussy about details, but as soon as they showed up and began work my confidence level soared. They did a wonderful job; they were tidy, timely and considerate and did a number of little extras as they were up on the very high extension ladder (sorry about the wasp stings). The results were amazing. From faded, orangey, peeling stains to a gorgeous rich Cinnamon with dark brown trim. (Phil chose the trim colour and it made our unique iron-worked and arched windows really stand out.)
They are returning to do more work outside and we will happily have them back to build us a new very large deck in the spring and again hopefully in a year or two to completely overhaul our kitchen.
I have never written a letter like this for anyone but have no hesitancy in writing one and in recommending Phil.

My husband and I moved to Kingston four years ago. We purchased a home with an open concept so finding a color we both liked was key, as we would be seeing a lot of it!
When the color was finally selected the next hurdle, being "newbie’s", was finding someone we trusted whom would do a great job at a fair price. I was given three names of local contractors from an interior designer and decided to select one additional contractor myself. I found Phil through a Google search and was very impressed with his web page. I booked a quote by phone. He was quick to respond and provided us with a very competitive same day quote... all three other quotes took days to be received.
Phil left us with an excellent first impression; he was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable and had a network of trades he was able to recommend. We kept him busy for over a month and have been extremely satisfied with his and his associate's work. There were times I doubted my color decisions but Phil always steered me in the right direction. He took pride in his work and showed a keen interest inthe vision we had for our home. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an honest, reliable, and capable contractor. We plan to have him back!

There are lots of house painters out there, so how do you select the best from among them? I think it is by looking for those who proudly identify with painting as their profession, not just a job to bring some income until school is finished, or in hard economic times until “better” work can be had. The other way would be references like this one.
My experience with Phil the Painter Renovations met my expectations for excellent service, a professional attitude, skills and a job well done. My house needed refreshing, since I was preparing to put it on the market for sale. The colours needed updating and the house needed high buyer appeal. I was at a loss.
Phil's professionalism allowed me to give him the freedom to select the wall colours throughout the house to achieve all these things, which he did admirably. Then I left the country for two weeks – literally. When I returned, it was to a totally new home and I was amazed. Phil had selected colours throughout the house that highlighted the positive architectural details of my neo-Victorian, while making it feel very modern and downplaying a couple of no so perfect elements of the house. Not only that, but he selected colours that reflect the light in different ways at different times of day, and we never tire of seeing the subtle changes. These are not colours that will bore homeowners after a bit of time. In addition, Phil has a couple of finishing touches that really set his painting projects off and give a clear, crisp finished look. I am totally happy with the job that Phil did for me and I am confident that it will promote a successful house sale. I intend to use him again in my next property. What higher commendation could I give?

February 2012: After experiencing what a great job Phil the Painter Renovations did in my kitchen, I asked Phil to paint my master bedroom and replace the flooring from carpet to wood laminate. The pictures on his website tell the story. Due to the natural light coming in from the east through a bay window, Phil suggested that I use a darker shade of my preferred colour on one wall, with a lighter shade on the other 3 walls. I chose grey and the results are fabulous. For the flooring, again with Phil's help and recommendations, I chose a dark wood laminate and just love the finished result. In less than 3 days, Phil moved all the furniture out of the room, removed the old carpet, laid the new floor and replaced all the furniture - leaving no mess behind. Just as before, I was very impressed and will continue to reach out to Phil the Painter Renovations for any interior or exterior work I need doing in my home.

I hired Phil in January 2012 primarily to update my kitchen which was very tired looking. He took the time to go over all the options available to me with regard to cabinet refinishing, paint types and colors and counter-top details.
He did a fantastic job and I am thrilled with the results. If you go to his website you will see pictures of the kitchen, before and after. I have asked Phil to come back and redecorate most of the main level of my house (bungalow) as well as refresh many areas in the basement. He is very detail-oriented, professional, efficient, clean (never leaves a mess), creative, trustworthy and provides great value and excellent work.
I highly recommend Phil the Painter Renovations.

“In 2009 Phil painted both the upstairs and downstairs of our home. In 2010 he built our backyard fence. In both instances we were very pleased with the quality and detail of the work. He also took the time to explain his rationale for the materials chosen and took care to ensure we endorsed his choice. All in all, we highly recommend his work and trust him emphatically. “

"When we moved into our house it was badly in need of updating .There was wall paper that had to come down and the walls were all marked up, holes, scraps etc. Phil came in removed the wall paper, fixed all the scraps and holes, painted our whole downstairs and most of our upstairs. When he was done our house looked absolutely amazing! Our house was brand new again. I have never seen someone put that much detail and effort into a house before, especially mine! My wife was so impressed she had him come back and refinish our kitchen cabinets and now they look amazing! Our house looks like something you would see in a magazine picture. I am going to have him back to renovate our basement. I would recommend Phil the Painter Renovations to anyone who wants top notch quality workmanship done in their house or anywhere else! He is the best I have ever seen."

"Phil was highly recommended by someone whose judgement I trust greatly. Even so, I was a bit taken aback by Phil’s confidence in his ability to transform my house, as at the time I thought it just needed a few touch ups. As we walked through the house, a process which took at least two hours, I started to understand that the entire place needed a complete paint job. I was getting my house ready for sale, and this was going to hold up the process!
Phil agreed to start immediately, and was dedicated not only to totally transforming my house by his painting skills, but by working weekends and long days in order to get the job finished as quickly as possible. He also gladly did other things as they came up including hanging pictures, drapery hardware, etc. etc.
My realtor had viewed the house prior to painting and his reaction when he saw the finished product was “WOW”. My house was listed, and within two days I had accepted an offer. I believe the outstanding job Phil did on the entire house contributed greatly to the successful result.
Due to Phil’s dedication, enthusiasm and outstanding work, I have already hired Phil to paint the whole interior of my new house, and have also recommended him to friends!
Thank you Phil!"
